Diploma in Community Development
The program aims at equipping students with an in-depth knowledge of community development and social change in relation to the meaning and implication of community development process. This program facilitates students to engage community members in learning about and understanding of community issues and other impacts such as environmental, social, political and psychological. It incorporates the diverse interests and culture of the community in the community development process. The program also designed to enable community workers gain a thorough understanding of community development combined with the practical skills necessary to work effectively in development work. The program will provide the theoretical knowledge and skills required for leadership in the community sector. It will also teach maintaining momentum, evaluate the effectiveness and sustain the progress of community development projects and learn to work in partnership with communities to build their capacity, resilience and self-reliance.
This program is primarily based on generating sustainable agriculture and promoting agri-business as well. The students will learn about sustainable agricultural related such as environmental-friendly pest-disease identification and management, composting natural fertilizer, soil and water management, and agricultural adaptation to climate change in Myanmar. Sustainable agriculture meets the needs of local communities for its products and services, while ensuring profitability, environmental health and social and economic equity.
Program Requirements
- Registered and enrolled in the program for the duration of 2 years
- Completion of required 4 semesters
- Completion of 73 total credits of courses
- Completion of 3 credits mini research paper/final project
- Completion of 76 credits that are required for graduation
